Aussie House Sitters And Craigs House Sitting

The House Sitting Move To Join Aussie House Sitters

Craig: Professional House Sitter based in Hobart Tasmania house and pet sitting throughout Australia

I am a trusted established professional house & pet sitter with demonstrated long term results, repeat clients, & time tested 5 star testimonials.
I look after my clients homes & pets like they are mine.

In 2016 I established Craigs House Sitting as a standalone service independent of other membership networks as I wanted to build my own brand.

In 2023 I decided to join the Aussie House Sitters membership website to be a part of a much bigger network to expand my reach and further build my house sitting lifestyle.

Why I love house sitting

Building trusting long term relationships with home owners, and their pets, is something I value & prioritise.
Living a house sitting lifestyle enables me to ‘disrupt’ the buy/rent a home mindset to rethink & reimagine the ‘great Aussie dream’.
It’s a great way to explore, experience, & live life.

I am a trusted established professional house & pet sitter with demonstrated long term results, repeat clients, and time tested 5 star testimonials. You cannot buy trust. You cannot buy/fake the time that it takes to accumulate trust.

I prioritise longer term stays, and look to book shorter stays into my schedule where and when I can.
(please check my availability calendar and book accordingly)

My house and pet sitting stays are FREE of charge.

My service suits professionals/people who expect a high level of service, communication, and accountability.
My long term track record clearly demonstrates and backs up my attitude and approach in providing a service that is a level well above the standard house sitting experience.

BACKGROUND:

Prior to joining Aussie House Sitters in early 2023, I established what has since become a trusted brand in ‘Craig’s House Sitting’ (dot com) back in 2016 after returning from a UK adventure working and “workawaying’ throughout 2015.

During this period of time I have collected dozens of REAL references and testimonials (viewable on my website) to demonstrate how I work with and for people, and how I look after their pets and properties.

I provide a Tasmania wide service (expanding Australia wide 2026) having looked after pets and properties in the following Greater Hobart areas; Bellerive, Howrah, Tranmere, Geilston Bay, Acton, Lauderdale, Sandford, Clifton Beach, Opossum Bay, Sorell, Primrose Sands, Murdunna, Montrose, Moonah, Lenah Valley, Kingston, Blackmans Bay, Sandy Bay, Cygnet, Dover, Bicheno, Port Arthur, Somerset Burnie, Evandale, North East Tasmania (Gladstone), Whitemark Flinders Island, and many other Tasmanian locations.

NOBODY does house and pet sitting and looking after peoples homes and properties better than I do.
My approach is to always improve what I do as I seek to add value to peoples and pets lives along the house sitting journey – an improvement mindset is my approach to life.

I prioritise professional people, clean environments, secure locations, and longer term stays.
From 2026 I will be expanding my house sitting service throughout Australia focusing on coastal situations.
(As an example, I have completed a house sit in Western Australia at Margaret River upon homeowner request).

What My Clients Say (from my website) About My Service:

“Craig is hands down the best house sitter you could ask for.
His communication, cleanliness, and the peace of mind he brings are what we love about having Craig look after our place and our pets. Craig has looked after our property and pets many times now over the past six years. This includes, a 6-month stay in 2021, and recently another 4 week stay in 2022. Seriously, if you have any doubt about using Craig’s excellent service don’t! He’s amazing, the dogs love him, the house and yard were in immaculate condition.”
– Austin and Alex (TAS)

“For us, there is literally nothing better than being able to go on holiday safe in the knowledge that our dog is having as much fun (if not more) than we are. For this reason, Craig has been our go-to house and dog sitter over the past 5 years. Our relationship with Craig started in 2016 when he looked after Nyla as a puppy and we have been lucky enough to have Craig continue to look after her over the years including the most recent stay in August 2022 this year. Craig makes everything extremely easy, he is clear with his communication, he is reliable and honest. Upon returning, our home is always impeccably clean and the garden looks tidier than how we left it. Most importantly to us is the care and attention that Craig gives to very active and needy Vizsla. Craig even remembered an old injury that Nyla had sustained and customised her exercise so as not to exasperate the injury. Small things like this mean so much to us and really highlight the thoughtfulness that Craig demonstrates.Craig is a complete professional and we cannot recommend him highly enough. Thanks Craig!”

– Eve and Gustavo (TAS)

Craig has been the best pet sitter we have ever used.
His attention to detail is second to none, in regards to both our pets (a labrador, a free range rabbit and our fishtank and fishpond), and our house (both indoor and outdoor plants were watered, lawns mowed and a particular favourite newly established smaller plant that I specifically drew to Craig’s attention before leaving was thriving upon our return).
If you’d like to leave your home and pets with complete peace of mind, Craig is your man.

– Terri and Jason (WA)

“Finding Craig was a ‘gift’! We are not the type of people that feel comfortable leaving our home and dog with just anyone, there are lots of reasons for this, and I think one is the feeling of being vulnerable on different levels. We did not feel this at all! Craig is a warm person and establishing rapport is easy! Arriving home was a treat, dog and garden was in great condition! House was ‘cleaned’ linen was “washed’, food for the dog was ‘ready and thawed’. He harvested the garden and there were fresh veggies waiting! We would recommend Craig – in fact we already have! It is like having a friend come into your home to care for it!”

– Janet and Brendan (TAS)

“Wow, what a great house sitter. Craig house and pet sat for my husband & I while we were away for four months. Craig went above and beyond expectations, whilst away, we received weekly updates and if there were any problems Craig would call us. We take pride in our home, and upon return it was as if we had not been away. It was spotless. Nothing was a problem for him. We would not hesitate to use Craig again in the future and have already recommended him to our friends and family.”

– Craig and Karen (TAS)

“We recently had the good fortune of finding Craig at Craig’s House Sitting! From the first point of contact, Craig was friendly, professional and very flexible. We were reassured that our dog was being left in safe and caring hands and our home was left spotless. We will be using Craig again and highly recommend his service.”

Lyle and Melanie (TAS)

“My family and I highly recommend Craig to anyone in search of a high-quality, professional, and reliable house/pet sitting service. Craig has open and honest communication which we love. Craig is flexible when it comes to meeting your families and pets requirements. Our house was left spotless and our two dogs were happy!”

Claire and Jace (TAS)

“Craig has looked after our house and pets twice now. I have been able to take a proper break not worrying about how things are at home. I have every confidence that Craig has every situation covered. Craig is an excellent communicator and an absolute professional at this service. I can’t recommend him highly enough.”

Deanna and Scott (TAS)

“Craig housesat for a 4 week period over May and June 2018. He provided a comprehensive service not only looking after our house, keeping it and leaving it immaculate he maintained our large outside area and our greenhouse as well.
Clearing large areas of leaf litter and managing small bonfires safely in the designated areas. He left our wood supply topped up and made sure all outdoor areas around the house were well maintained and tidy.

We would highly recommend Craig as an excellent house sitter. Craig is respectful, responsible and courteous. He ensures he has as much information required about the house and expectations of stay before he commences his stay and maintains a very high standard of care, relaying updates or any issues in a timely, professional manner by email or call if necessary.

Craig is a kind and knowledgeable person who offers great value, bringing professionalism in the services he offers with a high degree of perspective that goes beyond simply looking after ones beloved home.”

ADDITIONAL ADVICE TO HOME OWNERS SEEKING SITTER/S:

My #1 tip for discerning home owners on the Aussie House Sitters website:
REACH OUT to your chosen/selected house sitter/s before you advertise your house sit.
Check their availability calendars first.
Why?
You get to minimise public exposure to your property = reducing security risk/s.
You also can concentrate on the quality and quantity of your selection of sitters instead of being overwhelmed by many sitter applications and messages seeking a stay.

Looking for a regular sitter/s? My advice is to think long term. Find the right person/s. Build relationships based on trust.

ALWAYS do your due diligence.
ASK questions.

VERIFY any information – before trusting anyone to look after your home and pets – seek clarification on testimonials and references, and speak to referees if possible or if social proof is light or not evident.

Experience:
How experienced is your house sitter?
Accountability:
Can you rely on this person/s to follow through and how would you know?
Proof?
Maturity:
Experience/life experience matters with house sitters.

The importance of questions:
Does your sitter/s ask relevant questions?
Are they interested, present, engaged, and ‘switched on’ to your needs and requirements while you are away?
Verification:
Are your house sitter/s who they say they are?
Police checks?
ID Verified?
Reply rating 5 stars?
5 star reviews?
More reviews equals more trust factor and social proof.
Clean and tidy:
Referee evidence?
Do they understand what is required to responsibly look after a property and pets?
Do they understand what privacy and confidentiality actually mean?
Do they understand how to ‘actively manage risk’ and how to respond if there are issues during the stay?
Longer stays coupled with good reviews is an effective way to gauge sitter/s accountability and responsibility over time.

IMPORTANTLY:
“Don’t second guess your house sitter/s – get the right person/s to look after your home and pets the first time.”
